Midnight Monarch Flight
Midnight Monarch FlightGenerated for Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival in October 2025, this large-scale, site-specific installation was featured at the historic St. Paul Square on the east side of San Antonio, TX. The piece was 14’ wide and 9’ deep, comprised of hand-built traditional Mexican style paper mache components from the glowing altar to the larger-than-life monarchs. According to Mexican folklore, the monarch acts as a messenger between the living and the departed. In this immersive piece, the community was encourage to enter the space with sincerity, choose a ribbon off of the altar and tie it on to the monarchs with feelings of love and healing. Dedicated to those whose lives were lost in the tragic Texas Hill Country floods in July 2025.
